The director of Led Zeppelin's forthcoming concert film Celebration Day has seemingly scotched hopes that the band will reform.

Last week (September 21), the surviving members of the band - Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones – made a rare public appearance to discuss the movie, which is a concert film of their 2007 show at the London's 02 Arena.

But according to Contact Music, filmmaker Dick Carruthers, who directed the flick, has said that talk of the band reuniting detracts from the movie – and he also claimed that there hadn't been any conversations about any further reunion shows.

"I do think the whole will-they-won't-they go on tour thing preoccupies far too much of the media's attention. This really isn't about that," he said.

When asked if there had been any talk about another reunion since he filmed the 2007 show, he replied:

Let's put it this way, it hasn't happened in the last five years since the reunion show.

The band themselves had been evasive during last week's press conference when pressed on the possibility of coming together again for more shows. When asked if the 02 show had excited them enough to regroup once more, Jimmy Page answered, "Can I just ask you all if you enjoyed the film?"

When the journalist in question retorted by asking if he could have his question answered, Robert Plant replied, "That would be kiss and tell", and the band also completely dodged a question regarding "how crazy" the amount of money put on the table with regards to any future shows was. Celebration Day will screen in cinemas from October 17. The film will then get a general DVD release on November 19. A deluxe edition will also include footage of the Shepperton rehearsals, as well as BBC news footage.
