The Lemonheads wowed fans in London last night (September 14) by playing their acclaimed 1992 LP ‘It’s A Shame About Ray’ in full.

The trio, led by frontman Evan Dando , raced through the album as part of the Don’t Look Back series, where a series of artists are playing classic albums in their entirety.

Dando , backed by bassist Josh Lattanzi and drummer Bill Stevenson , told the sold-out crowd on the first of two nights at Shepherd’s Bush Empire he was “having fun” as they played classics like ‘Confetti’ , ‘Rudderless’ and ‘My Drug Buddy’.

After the album was finished, the singer played a selection of solo acoustic songs, including covers of Gram Parsons’ ‘How Much I’ve Lied’ and Mike Nesmith ’s ‘Different Drum’ . The band then came back on and closed the set with non-‘…Ray’ classics such as ‘Into Your Arms’ and ‘If I Could Talk I’d Tell You’ .

The Lemonheads ’ eighth album is very near completion and is set for release early next year. Songs already recorded for the album include ‘Pittsburgh’ , ‘Black Gown’ and ‘Become The Enemy’ .
