Lightspeed Champion’s debut album is not out for another week (January 21) – but you can hear it now on NME.COM.

’Falling Off The Lavender Bridge' is the first solo release by Dev Hynes – previously a member of Test Icicles – and was recorded in Nebraska with Bright Eyes member Mike Mogis.

Already an eagerly awaited release following the acclaimed single ’Galaxy Of The Lost’, Hynes told NME.COM he was keen that the album should make an impact on everyone who hears it.

“You know how there’s certain artists who use certain lyrics that you constantly remember even if you don’t want to?” he explained. “Like you sing a line from an Eminem song to some and they can nearly always tell you the next line? I wanted my lyrics to do the same.”

You can hear the record now, on NME.COM. Simply click here or head to Lightspeed Champion’s artist page and launch the media player.

The Shockwaves NME Awards 2008 are coming soon – and it’s time to have your say. Vote now by heading to NME.COM/awardsvote and you could win VIP tickets to the ceremony, which takes place in London on February 28.
