Lightspeed Champion performs 'Star Wars' medley at iTunes Live gig

Dev Hynes also previews two new songs at exclusive show

Lightspeed Champion performed a rocked-up medley of the themes from 'Star Wars' at his iTunes Live gig at London's KOKO last night (July 8).

As an extended introduction to his epic single 'Midnight Surprise', they performed a version of the 1977 film's theme 'The Imperial March', before kicking into the main 'Star Wars Theme' to loud applause.

Dev Hynes, joined by a drummer, bassist and violinist, also performed three new songs, 'Happy Birthday', 'Marlene' and the "depressing" 'Dead Head Blues' at the gig.

The singer also showcased a number of highlights from his debut album 'Falling Off The Lavender Bridge', including 'Galaxy Of The Lost' and the opening 'Everyone I Know Is Listening To Crunk', which Hynes performed solo.

During an extended version of 'All To Shit', the band swapped instruments, with Hynes performing drums and vocals.

Earlier in the evening, Reading's Pete And The Pirates performed a set built around tracks from their debut album 'Little Death'.

Boasting a heavier sound than on record, the five-piece tore through tracks including 'Knots' and 'She Doesn't Belong To Me'.

The band ended their set at the packed venue with 'Come On Feet'.
