Lil Wayne to release prison memoir 'Gone Till November'

Rapper has documented eight-month incarceration for new tome

Lil Wayne will release a memoir documenting his time in prison, titled 'Gone Till November', on November 28.

The rapper, who served eight months in New York's Rikers Island prison in 2010 after being convicted of a gun charge, has penned his first-hand accounts of his experiences in jail for the tome, which will be published by Grand Central Publishing.

Grand Central Publishing executive editor Ben Greenberg said:

"We are thrilled to be publishing Wayne's prison memoir. He kept detailed journals of his inner and outer life while he was on Rikers Island, and they certainly tell a story. They are revealing.

Lil Wayne began his jail sentence in March 2010. His incarceration was postponed initially so he could have emergency dental surgery, then delayed because of a courthouse fire.

He was later forced to spend part of his sentence in solitary confinement after he was found with headphones and an MP3 player charger.

In December 2011, Lil Wayne was named 'Top R&B/Hip-Hop artist' by Billboard magazine after his album 'Tha Carter IV' went straight to the Number One on the US albums chart and sold almost a million copies during its first week of release.

However, in October last year, the rapper claimed that he wanted to retire from the music industry when he turns 35 so he can spend more time with his family.
