Lil Wayne to be sued by promoter for three gig no-shows

Rochester promoter files $1.3 million suit

Lil Wayne has been slapped with a $1.3 million suit by a Rochester promoter after he cancelled three gigs in the city.

As previously reported, the star axed shows at the Blue Cross Arena on October 26 and December 6, 2008. Wayne reportedly began his performance on October 26 but left the stage halfway through as he was unhappy with the sound.

The December 6 show was postponed to January 21, apparently due to mandatory tour rehearsals, but that show was cancelled due to travel logistics, according to Wayne's manager.

Promoter Ed Strickland told democratandchronicle.com : "This is a business. I have a commitment to my investors, the public. A lot of money — TV, radio, print — went to make this thing happen."

The suit was filed in the New York Superior Court last Friday (February 13) and states that Strickland had even sent a $100,000 advance to Wayne in October.
