Lil Wayne is due in court today (October 21) in New York at a hearing that will establish if low copy DNA profiling, in which a tiny amount of DNA is used to identify people, particularly suspects in criminal cases, is valid in a court of law.
If it is found that low copy DNA profiling is scientifically acceptable, then this could have repercussions for Lil Wayne. The rapper pleaded not guilty to possessing a gun which was found on his tourbus in 2007 yet prosecutors say he could be tied to the gun with low copy DNA, reports AP.
If convicted he could face at least three and a half years in prison.
Lil Wayne was in London earlier this month to play gigs in the UK capital.
