Lil Wayne to start prison term in February
Rapper to begin year-long sentence for gun charges
Lil Wayne has been given the date on which he will start a year-long stint in prison.
The rapper – real name Dwayne Carter – who pleaded guilty to gun charges back in October, will begin his sentence on February 9. The charges followed a 2007 arrest in New York, where police found a gun on his tourbus.
The prison date comes just over one week after the proposed launch of his much-delayed new rock album 'Rebirth', which is now due for release on February 1.
Despite the continued delays of the LP, this week saw around 500 Amazon customers who pre-ordered the album receive a copy thanks to a shipping mishap, reports Billboard.
