Lily Allen has refuted suggestions that she was dropped from the MTV Awards in the US due to her visa troubles.
It was alleged that the singer was dumped from the show after troubles with her visa escalated.
However, in a statement Allen denied that she had been dropped.
She said that she would be unable to appear because the renewal of her US visa would not be finalised in time for the awards and her forthcoming US tour in September.
“The reinstatement process has proven lengthier than acticipated, thus preventing her tour from launching on September 6 in San Diego,
CA,” explained the statement.
She added: “I am so disappointed that I won’t be able to come to the States at this time. I was really looking forward to playing these shows and being part of the Video Music Awards. I want my fans to know I’ll be back as soon as I possibly can!”
