Lily Allen's cash used to 'green up' Isle Of Wight Festival
Money saved by not replacing singer used for environmental means
- May 8, 2008 | 1 Comments
As previously reported on NME.COM, Allen withdrew from the bash in March.
Festival organisers released a statement today (May 8) saying that they have spent the money saved on Allen's appearance fee on environmental measures, including a tree repopulation programme.
The money has also been spent on research into bee habitats, and a scheme to increase local business partnerships to cut down on travel.
Festival promoter John Giddings acknowledged that the festival will still have a negative impact on the environment, but said that these new measures would continue the ongoing improvement.
