Lily Allen: 'I'll still vote for Gordon Brown'

Singer pledges her support to Prime Minister

Lily Allen has revealed that she is certain to vote for Prime Minister Gordon Brown at the next General Election.

Despite Brown currently facing pressure from other Labour Party members to step down, Allen says she still supports him.

"Of course I'll still vote for him," she told The Times, adding that she considers Brown "a nice man", although she didn't elaborate on further reasons for her choice.

Allen also defended the boisterous reputation she's earned from the press.

"People are probably under the impression that I'm some sort of crazy bouncing-up-and-down teenager that comes in saying really shocking things," she said. "I don't think I'm quite as boisterous as people imagine."

TBH Labour needs new leadership but Brown is still better than Cameron or Clegg in my eyes. If only he'd stop smiling and be himself again. Everybody complains about slick politicians, like Blair, Brown comes along and suddenly he's not photogenic enough.

Geo91 -agreed. We need people who can do the job. As a 32 year old who remembers what it was like under 18 years of the Tories, anyone who thinks that things will be better under them is deluding themselves quite spectacularly. Would be good to see NME get a little more political again, there was a time when you would get politicians on the cover - I can remember Neil Kinnock, Tony Blair (the famous 1998 'Ever get the feeling you've been cheated?' cover), Ken Livingston, focus on the treatment of New Age Travellers, 2001's Riot issue...for some of us, NME was as much a political education as it was a musical education. It would be great to see those days again...

Lily is right. Labour may not be perfect but imagine a Tory govt - cutbacks on support for musicans, etc. i remember when black and gay people were second class citizens under the Tories.
