Lily Allen, Duran Duran, Grizzly Bear react to Kim Jong-il's death on Twitter

The North Korean dictator passed away after having a heart attack on Saturday

A host of musicians, including Lily Allen, Simon Le Bon of Duran Duran and the band Grizzly Bear, have reacted to the death of North Korean leader Kim Jong-il on Twitter.

Lily Allen simply tweeted: "Buhbye Kim Jong il", while Grizzly Bear commented on the number of puns and jokes the social networking site has seen surrounding the controversial leader and his demise. "I don't have any jokes about Kim Jong Il's death----feeling left out," wrote the band.

30 Seconds To Mars star Jared Leto said: "End of an Era. Time for an Asian Spring" while Jon McClure – otherwise known as The Rev - from Reverend and the Makers, tweeted: "So Kim Jong il has died! Did u see the newsreader. She was proper gutted bless her x".

Duran Duran's Simon Le Bon commented: "And it's... Good-bloody-bye to tinpot dictator, Kim Jong Il. Best know for his supporting role in Team America; World Police (the movie)."

Kim Jong-il died at the age of 69 following a heart attack on Saturday (December 17). His funeral will be held in Pyongyang on December 28. North Korea has entered a state of national mourning from now until December 29.
