Lily Allen has reportedly given birth to a baby girl and named her Marnie.

According to The Sun, Allen (who now goes under her married name Cooper) gave birth on Tuesday night (January 8). The paper reports that Allen is delighted her daughter shares a birthday with David Bowie and Elvis Presley.

Marnie is Allen's second child following the birth of daughter Ethel in 2011. Appearing to confirm the reports of her motherhood, Allen tweeted this morning (January 10) to say: "Quite overwhelmed by all the well wishing going on. Thank you everybody x x x"

Replying to TV presenter Lauren Laverne enquiring as to how she was feeling, Allen wrote: ''Can't uncross my eyes. Unique mixture of tiredness and strong painkillers.''

Rumours have surrounded Allen's return to the music world after she retired from performing and releasing albums in 2009 to concentrate on having a family, her record label and her fashion boutique. Last year she recorded a duet with Pink titled 'True Love' and joined Professor Green on stage during his Stone Roses support slot. Allen was also reported to be back in the studio with producer Greg Kurstin.

Speaking to NME in 2012 about her musical plans, Allen said: "I'm not going to put anything out until I've got an end product which I think's amazing – or, you know, good". Her main concern right now, she added, is on her pregnancy. "I don't think there's going to be anything out in the next few months. But hopefully in the next year."
