Lily Allen has unveiled a short, behind the scenes video for her comeback hit ‘Hard Out Here’.

The ‘making of’ short features footage of the London singer learning how to twerk, talking to her backing dancers and admitting that she is “not a very good dancer”. It also sees Allen, who has come under fire for having black dancers gyrate around her (albeit ironically), stating that she wouldn't want "it to seem like [she's] looking down on them" or that she's thinks she's "too good for that".

Despite causing a stir due to its confrontational lyrics and video (which involves an open parody of Robin Thicke’s summer smash ‘Blurred Lines’), ‘Hard Out Here’ – Allen’s first original song since 2009’s ‘It’s Not Me, It’s You’ – debuted at Number Nine on the official UK chart this week.

On top of this, the singer’s cover of Keane track ‘Somewhere Only We Know’, which is the soundtrack to this year’s John Lewis Christmas advert, also debuted at Number One. This is Allen’s third number one single, following 2006’s ‘Smile’ and 2009 hit ‘The Fear’.

Lily Allen, who is currently relaunching her pop career following a four-year hiatus during which she gave birth to two children, also recently revealed that she ”would welcome” the opportunity to work with controversial pop star Miley Cyrus.
Despite the video for ‘Hard Out Here’ being described by many as a direct spoof of Cyrus’ ‘We Can’t Stop’ video, Allen professed her admiration of the American former Disney Channel singer, stating “Anyone who knows me, or follows me on Twitter, knows I love that girl more than anything. She’s probably way too busy for someone like me but yeah, I’d welcome the opportunity to work with her.”

She added: “I'd never met her before so I couldn’t say we are really great friends but I do really like Miley. She’s funny, witty and clever, I love what she does. I think her and Lorde’s album have had the most plays in my car this year. I never went on record saying the video was a direct pop at her – it wasn’t.”

Lily Allen’s as-yet-untitled third album is slated for release in 2014.
