Lily Allen broke the middle finger of her NME Award at an afterparty yesterday evening – see picture above.

The 'Hard Out Here' singer collected the Best British Solo Artist at the NME Awards with Austin, Texas last night (February 26), but was later spotted holding the broken award as she left the bash at London venue Sketch.

Collecting her prize, Allen had told the crowd: "This is kind of dumb because David Bowie was in the same category and Jake Bugg so this goes to you guys, not me."

Other big winners at last night's ceremony, which was held at O2 Brixton Academy, included Paul McCartney, Damon Albarn, Lily Allen and Haim. Performances came from The Horrors and Drenge plus Metronomy, who opened the show by performing 'Love Letters', from their forthcoming new album of the same name, with MKS. Belle & Sebastian played 'I Want The World To Stop' and 'The Boy With The Arab Strap'.

Arctic Monkeys dominated the NME Awards 2014 with Austin, Texas, however, picking up five awards including Best British Band, Best Live Band and Best Album for 'AM'.
