Lily Allen has denied suggestions that she was making fun of Beyonce when she performed the dance routine from the 'Drunk In Love' video live on stage this weekend.

Allen performed at the G-A-Y club at Heaven in London on Saturday night (April 26) wearing a black bikini similar to the one Beyoncé sports in her music video. Click below to watch fan-shot footage of the performance now.

When video of the performance circulated online, it drew criticism from individuals including Questlove of The Roots, who wrote "so Lily Allen is our cultural critic now?".

Tweeting after the performance, Allen explained that she did not mean to cause offence, stating that it was part of a tradition and that she finds critics "fucking boring". Starting the first of three tweets on the subject, Allen wrote: "Only one person can tell you what my intentions are, and that would be me. Each time I play G-A-Y I do a cover in drag. 1st time I did Dorothy, last time Britney, this time Queen Bey. Why do people jump to conclusions. I wasn't mocking Beyoncé , like I wasn't dissing anyone on #SHEEZUS , this is so fucking boring."

Lily Allen releases new album 'Sheezus' next week (May 5).

Allen recently revealed that 'Sheezus' is, in part, a tribute to the late Amy Winehouse. Speaking about her relationship with the 'Back To Black' singer, Allen admits they were acquaintances rather than close friends and talks about the life she led prior to Winehouse's death in 2011.

Earlier this year Allen expressed worry that Kanye West might react negatively to her referencing his 2013 album 'Yeezus' with her new album title. The singer, who won Best Solo Artist at this year's NME Awards With Austin, Texas, named her third album as an homage to the rapper.
