Lily Allen admitted to hospital with possible food poisoning

'Sheezus' singer was taken ill after filming Channel 4 show 'Alan Carr Chatty Man'

Lily Allen was admitted to hospital on Thursday (May 8) with potential food poisoning.

Allen had been filming her appearance on Channel 4 show Alan Carr Chatty Man when she complained of feeling ill, and had posted several messages on social media sites saying as much. One read: "I can't stop projectile vomiting, also temperature #poisoned." The singer later sent the chat show host a message joking that the Bombay Mix she'd eaten on the show was responsible.

This morning (May 8), the singer posted a photograph taken from her hospital bed on her Instragram account, accompanied by the comment: "#SHEEzUS in #SHOSPITAL . I'm fine though guys, just need some fluids cause i can't keep anything down. #dramz" The image followed another of a box of Lemsip and complaints she was feeling ill during the day. She later retweeted a message from a Twitter follower which said: "You look like a My Chemical Romance fan."

Allen's third album 'Sheezus' was released on Monday (May 5). Read NME's review of the album here. The album is on course to give Allen her second Number One album. The midweek chart showed she was 12,000 sales ahead of nearest rival Paolo Nutini, whose third album 'Caustic Love' became the fastest-selling album of the year when it was released on April 14.
