Linkin Park have been forced to cancel the final show of their world tour as their frontman Chester Bennington has to undergo shoulder surgery.

The band, who have been on tour in support of their fourth studio album 'A Thousand Suns' for the last year, have pulled out of their planned appearance at DeLuna Festival in Florida.

Bennington sustained the injury during a show in Asia earlier this year and will be operated on in the next few weeks.

The band have issued a statement about the cancellation on their official website Linkinpark.com, which reads as follows: "We regret that we must withdraw from our October 16 performance at DeLuna Fest in Pensacola, FL. As much as we were looking forward to rocking our final date of the year with our Florida fans, Chester has been advised to have immediate shoulder surgery as a result of an injury he sustained during our recent tour in Asia."

Linkin Park have confirmed that they are well underway in writing the follow-up to 'A Thousand Suns', with Chester Bennington saying earlier this year:

We're in the studio and we're well on our way to making our next record. I can tell you that we have a lot of good music, a lot of quality songs.
