Teen idol wins three awards at annual US ceremony

Linkin Park, Nicki Minaj and Adele were amongst winners at the American Music Awards 2012, which were held last night (November 18).

The annual ceremony was held at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles and saw Justin Bieber collect three awards. The teen star took home the awards for Artist of The Year, Favourite Male Artist and Favourite Album for his 2012 record 'Believe'. Linkin Park won the award for Favourite Artist - Alternative Rock, beating The Black Keys and Gotye to the title. Other winners across the categories included Usher, Beyonce, Carly Rae Jepsen, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Shakira and Maroon 5.

Performances at the ceremony came from Justin Bieber, Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Usher, Pink and Christina Aguilera. Psy performed his hit 'Gangnam Style' with special guest MC Hammer.
