Band stage gig in hometown to help flood victims

Little Man Tate have announced plans to stage a hometown benefit gig to help flood victims in Sheffield.

The four-piece are set to play The Plug on August 4 as a part of a bid to help rebuild the community.

Supporting acts for the show are still to be announced but the Sheffield band are offering an unknown group the chance to join the show via another fund-raising scheme.

"It was a very sad day on Monday and was strange seeing such a great city simply overwhelmed and overpowered," said guitarist Edward "Maz" Marriot. "We just want to do something to help make things a little bit better."

Hundreds of people have had to abandon their homes and two people were killed after floods swept through the city on Monday (June 25).

The gig is being organised in conjunction with the 'South Yorkshire Flood Victim Support Appeal' along with councils in Sheffield, Doncaster, Barnsley and Rotherham.
