Live Earth is back on in Rio

Brazilian leg of climate concert will go ahead

Live Earth is back on in Rio

The Brazilian leg of Live Earth is back on this weekend (July 7) despite fears it could be scrapped due to safety concerns.

As previously reported, prosecutor Denise Tarin asked for the event to be suspended because police would be concentrated on preparations for the Pan American Games on July 13.

However organisers now say the event – the only free leg of Live Earth – will go ahead as planned on Copacabana Beach, and that they have safety assurances from the local police, reports BBC News.

The Rio line-up includes Lenny Kravitz, Macy Gray and Pharrell Williams.

NME.COM will be bringing you coverage from the global gigs Live Earth gigs so stay tuned.
