Wolfmother speak after Australian Live Earth

Andrew Stockdale tells NME.COM he's doing his bit for globe

Wolfmother speak after Australian Live Earth

Wolfmother have told NME.COM how they’re going green after playing today’s (July 7) Live Earth concert in Australia.

Speaking backstage at the Aussie Stadium in Sydney, frontman Stockdale said the band felt they needed to “use the platform that we have with our music for a positive cause”.

“The environment’s very important – we need a change in philosophy, we’re co-existing with the world,” he explained. “The philosophy used to be we were conquering the world, we needed to control it and take from it – now the philosophy is that we’re living with it.”

Stockdale also revealed steps the band are taking toward helping with eradicating the climate crisis, although admitted at least one good deed is playing havoc with his famous afro hairdo.

“We’ve started recycling the plastic bottles on the bus – it’s not much, but we do it,” said the singer. “At home… well, I bought a car a little while ago, but I made sure it was diesel. And I’ve got a bicycle. I try to ride around the city – even though I get helmet hair. I get helmet hair, to save the world!”
