Keane tell Live Earth 'this is the start of a long journey'

Tom Chaplin and co rally the crowd at Wembley Stadium

Keane rallied the crowd behind the climate change campaign with a rousing set at the London leg of Live Earth this evening (July 7).

Right from the moment they took the stage, singer Tom Chaplin was intent on getting Wembley Stadium on its feet and engaged with the event's aims.

“I don’t care if you can’t sing or don’t know the words please we need you today,” the frontman told the crowd ahead of opening song ’Somewhere Only We Know’. “We need to fill Wembley Stadium with your voices so please sing as loudly as you can.”

After that the singer took off down the catwalk in front of the venue’s stage, performing from within the heart of the crowd.

“You know what, we are here on momentous day for our generation,” Chaplin then told the audience. “You know why? Because it’s the start of a very long journey, but if we get off back sides we can do something very important for mankind, and that’s a very beautiful thing. Thanks for listening.”

Keane played:

’Somewhere Only We Know’
‘Is It Any Wonder’
‘Bed Shaped’

Live Earth continues in London with Metallica on next, and performances coming from Spinal Tap, Beastie Boys and Madonna among others.
