Beastie Boys 'rock' Live Earth in London
The rap trio plug in as a band at Wembley Stadium
The Beastie Boys scrubbed-up for their performance at the London leg of Live Earth this evening (July 7).
The New York trio allayed fears that they would echo their current, instrumental only album by not saying a word, by loudly taking the Wembley Stadium stage dressed in very smart suits, ties and black sunglasses.
Barely pausing between songs – let alone leaving any time to speak to the crowd – the rappers tore through a high octane set that spanned their career to loud applause from the crowd.
Finally at the end of the sort set, the group not only paused, but the trio then plugged in and took up instruments – drums, bass and guitar – and played as a three-piece rock band.
“You’re very beautiful people” they told the crowd from their new positions before tearing out a raw but frenzied rocked-up version of ’Sabotage’.
Beastie Boys played:
‘Sure Shot’
‘So Whatcha’ Want’
‘Intergalactic’
‘Sabotage’
Live Earth continues in London with the Pussycat Dolls on next, and performances remaining from Foo Fighters and headliner Madonna who will be joined onstage by members of Gogol Bordello.
