Beastie Boys: Al Gore invited us personally to play Live Earth
But rap trio 'screened' Vice President's call
Al Gore personally rang the Beastie Boys to invite to perform at Live Earth the band said, but they ignored his call.
The rap trio, who took the stage at Wembley Stadium sporting sharp suits, were laid back about the gig – simply texting the former US Vice President and Live Earth organiser when they decided they were ready.
“Al Gore rang me but I was screening my calls at the time,” Ad-Rock told BBC TV, “I texted him back.”
Fortunately the band did decide to play, taking part in the London leg today (July 7).
