London Grammar are listed among the bookies' favourites to win this year's Mercury Music Prize, despite the fact they are not actually eligible for the award.

The trio are listed by Ladbrokes as having odds of 16/1 to win this year's prize. However, they released their debut album 'If You Wait' on September 9 2013, and the start date for this year's award is one day later, September 10 2013.

Similarly, Fat White Family are outsiders with odds of 33/1 but their album 'Champagne Holocaust' was released in April, making those odds seem generous.

Ahead of London Grammar, Kate Tempest (pictured right) remains favourite to win with odds of 5/2. Closely behind her are FKA Twigs, Jungle and East India Youth with Damon Albarn, Sam Smith, Chvrches and Wild Beasts also in the running. One Direction and Gary Barlow remain outsiders with odds of 100/1.

The shortlist for this year's prize will be announced on September 10 with the prize-giving ceremony scheduled for October 29. James Blake won the Mercury Music Prize in 2013.
