Katie Melua ends Leona Lewis' reign

Katie Melua has finally knocked Leona Lewis off the top of the UK singles chart tonight (December 16) with her charity cover 'What A Wonderful World'.

The singer dislodged the 2006 'X Factor' winner after seven weeks with her cover of the Louis Armstrong classic, which also features the late Eva Cassidy on vocals.

Lewis fell into second place with her single 'Bleeding Love', while a wealth of Christmas tracks made it into the Top 40.

Mariah Carey jumped four places to Number Four with 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' while The Pogues featuring Kirsty MacColl also shot up to Number Eight with 'Fairytale Of New York'.

Wham!'s 'Last Christmas' went in at 14 while Slade and Shakin' Stevens both went in with 'Merry Xmas Everybody' at number 22 and 'Merry Christmas Everyone' at 23.

In the album chart, Lewis remains at Number One with 'Spirit' while The Spice Girls' Greatest Hits has dropped nine places to Number 22.
