A nude portrait of Madonna is to receive its world premiere in a renovated stable block in Scotland.
The painting, "not really recognisable" as the star, will go on display at the MacLaurin Art Gallery in the western coastal town of Ayr from 13 April. Galleries in New York, Paris and Los Angeles had been clamouring to house New Works, the exhibition which includes the painting, but artist Scot Peter Howson was keen to keep it on home soil.
Madonna is a keen collector of Howson's work, according to the BBC, and she has posed for him a number of times in the past both nude and clothed. It is believed he had to paint the new picture from memory as Madonna's husband Guy Ritchie was not keen on her posing nude.
"The figure in the painting is not really recognisable asMadonna. You wouldn't know it was her unless someone told you," a source at the gallery said. The exhibition will run until June 4.
