'Esther' arrives in Tel Aviv for Kabbalah conference

Madonna has been celebrating Jewish New Year in Israel, including singing and dancing at a Kabbalah conference at a hotel.

The singer who grew up Catholic, assumed the Hebrew name Esther when she became a follower of the Kabbalah.

The singer is on a personal visit to Tel Aviv for the celebrations, having first visited Israel in 2004. She has not spoken to the media about her visit, and TV cameras were banned from the Kabbalah conference she was attending.

Madonna reportedly wore a black jacket, cinched at the waist with a belt, and maintained something of a disguise in a red and black plaid baseball hat.

Actors Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher are also in the city for the conference, both are devoted Kabbalah followers.

Could have been nice to see her [or any other artist under the age of 50..] come here to preform and not for religious purposes. Kind of sad to live here read NME watch MTV2 and never see a good band live.

Please come, it's safe and we're desperate. Try to imagine your life without live music.
