Star set to join the likes of REM, U2 and The Clash

Madonna will be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2008 – the first year for which she is eligible for entry.

Leonard Cohen, John Mellencamp, The Ventures and The Dave Clark Five will also be honoured.

Madonna and the other new inductees will be officially inducted on March 10, 2008 in New York’s Waldorf Astoria hotel.

Beastie Boys and Donna Summer were nominated for the 2008 honour, but were not selected for inclusion.

Past inductees include REM, U2, Sex Pistols, The Clash, Prince and ZZ Top.

i'm not convinced her music's good enough for her to be in there. she's a marketing whiz, not a rock star

shes a rock star no doubt. icon too. granted not a brilliant songwriter or producer, but what qualifies hall of fame entry?
