Madonna to release new album via mobile phone

The star will phone in 'Hard Candy' a week early

Madonna has announced that she will release her forthcoming album 'Hard Candy' via mobile phones a week before it hits stores.

The pop star, who previously refused to allow iTunes release her music, will make seven tracks from the new album available to Vodafone customers beginning April 21 -- a week prior to the album's April 28 global release.

Vodafone customers will be able to download one track each day of the week from 'Hard Candy', which features collaborations with Justin Timberlake, Timbaland and Pharrell Williams.

Madonna has also made her new single '4 Minutes' available as download for Vodafone customers in Spain, Portugal, Germany and Belgium beginning today (March 19).

The material girl is reportedly the first artist to release an album via mobile phone prior to its general release.
