She'll screen 'I Am Because We Are' in her home state

Madonna is set to return to Michigan, the state in which she grew up, to screen her Malawian documentary ‘I Am Because We Are’.

The documentary was screened during the Cannes Film Festival last week to a packed audience, and Madge herself was in attendance to promote the project.

As previously reported, during an interview with ABC’s ‘Nightline’, Madonna discussed the movie and the making of her new album ‘Hard Candy’ during which she revealed that producer Pharrell Williams made her cry during one particular recording session.

‘I Am Because We Are’ will be screened during Michael Moore’s Traverse Film Festival on August 2, and the Material Girl herself will be there to present the flick.

“I saw her film a month ago and was so deeply moved in a way that rarely happens with movies these days,” Moore told Variety. “I asked her immediately if she would come to our festival, and she said yes. Her presence here in Traverse City will have a profound impact on people.”
