Madonna wins case in wedding pictures privacy invasion

Judgement is just weeks after her divorce is granted

Just weeks after Madonna divorced her husband of eight years, director Guy Ritchie, the star has won a case against a British tabloid who published pictures of the pair's wedding.

The singer has asked for $7.5 million in compensation in the case against the Mail On Sunday, which published pictures of the 2000 wedding that were allegedly stolen by an interior designer.

Judge David Eady entered a judgement in the star's favour, reports the Associated Press, but the sum she will be awarded has not yet been decided.

A Mail On Sunday spokesperson, who asked not to be named, explained that the pictures are not worth the millions that Madonna is asking, saying: "Their commercial value today is indicated by the very modest sum we and other publications paid for them. The figure suggested by Madonna's lawyers is simply fantasy."

The Material Girl and her husband Guy Ritchie were granted a divorce on November 21 this year. The pair were married in Scotland in December 2000.

Any money awarded to the singer will go to her Raising Malawi organisation, says the singer's publicist Liz Rosenberg.
