Madonna filing to adopt another Malawian, officials say

Madonna is reportedly trying to adopt a second child from Malawi. According the African country's officials, the pop star, who adopted a Malawian boy last year, has filed adoption papers there once again.

A Malawian official told the Associated Press that Madonna would be visiting Malawi this weekend and may attend court as early as Monday (March 30) to present her adoption case. American officials have also confirmed that Madonna has filed adoption papers.

Questions have been raised about whether she will be eligible to adopt, now that she has divorced director Guy Ritchie and is a single mother. Malawi has been known to frown upon single-parent adoptions, but a Malawian welfare official said that each case is considered on its own merit.

If the adoption is finalised, Madonna would become the single mother of four children.
