Nude Madonna and Guy Ritchie painting goes unsold Madonna Tickets
Bids for oil painting fails to reach reserve price
A painting of Madonna and her film director ex-husband Guy Ritchie by Scottish artist Peter Howson has failed to sell in an auction.
The picture depicts a naked Madonna on her side with Ritchie gazing at her from behind her thigh. The piece was painted in 2005, before the couple split.
Despite attracting a number of bids at the sale at Glasgow's McTear's Auctioneer's on Saturday (May 30), the item failed to reach the £15,000 reserve price which had been put on it by a private seller, reports BBC News
Howson has painted a number of nude pictures of the singer. In 2002 they made up part of an exhibition in a gallery in Ayrshire.
The picture is still available for sale. Anyone interested in buying it should contact McTear’s Auctioneers.
