Second person dies following Madonna stage collapse Madonna Tickets
32-year-old British man killed in accident
A second worker has died after the stage for Madonna's 'Sticky And Sweet' tour collapsed in France on Tuesday (July 14).
The 32-year-old British man was initially taken to intensive care on a neurosurgery ward in Marseilles after the incident.
Officials confirmed that he died last night, reports BBC News.
Around 50 workers were building the stage at the city's Velodrome stadium, in anticipation for the singer's gig there this Sunday, when the partially-built roof collapsed.
One man, a 53-year-old French worker, was killed outright, while eight others were seriously hurt. 30 people are reported to have suffered minor injuries.
Madonna, who was in Italy at the time of the accident, said she was "devastated" by the news, and sent her condolences to the families of those involved.
City councillor Maurice Di Nocera said the roof "started shaking and collapsing" slowly, allowing several people working on it to escape. Fire fighters believe the roof collapsed after becoming unbalanced.
The 60,000-seater Velodrome is home to the Olympique de Marseille football club.
Madonna's concert there has now been cancelled.
