Madonna has been named the biggest money maker in the music industry.

Billboard's annual list of Top 40 money makers puts the Queen of Pop top for the second time in five years, with her world tour helping her take home around $34.6 million last year.

According to the report, around $32 million – more than 90% of her revenue – came from her 88-date 'MDNA' world tour, which was the biggest touring concert of 2012. Madonna was the only woman in the Top 10. Taylor Swift, who was 2011's biggest money maker, dropped down to Number 15 as she has not been touring recently.

In a close second place, with revenue totalling $33.4 million, was Bruce Springsteen. The Boss earned 90% of his takings from his stadium tour. His Number One album 'Wrecking Ball' and merchandise sales helped push his total up.

Pink Floyd's Roger Waters came in a distant third with earnings of $21 million from his 'The Wall' live tour. Van Halen were fourth with $20million. Country music star Kenny Chesney, Dave Matthews Band, Tim McGraw, Jason Aldean and Coldplay came next in the list.

The Top 10 was completed by Justin Bieber who earned almost $16 million. Around $10 million of his earnings came from his sold-out 'Believe' world tour.
