Madonna released a new short film entitled secretprojectrevolution yesterday (September 24) to mark the launch of her Art for Freedom campaign.

The film, made alongside director Steven Klein, is available through BitTorrent and also features extra bonus material including an exclusive interview with the singer, as well as photos and trailers from the film.

Speaking about the project previously, Madonna said that she aimed to "show by the example of secretprojectrevolution my creative commitment to inspire change in the world through artistic expression." She added: "I hope my film and other submissions to Art for Freedom will be a call to action and give people a place to voice their own creative expression to help fight oppression, intolerance and complacency," whilst also labelling the Art for Freedom project "an online global initiative to further freedom of expression."

Klein also commented, describing the film as an examination of "our private prisons". "It questions what we do, how we do it and how we treat others," he elaborated. "It questions our governments, and our collective thought patterns. Think about it – the power of art can lead to peace."

Art for Freedom is designed to be "a platform to give people around the world an opportunity to answer the question: what does freedom mean to you?"

Madonna's record label Interscope Records, meanwhile, recently had to recall thousands of copies of the 'MDNA World Tour DVD' following complaints regarding the poor sound and visual quality.

All Blu-Ray copies of the disc have been recalled in the US, with an "error in manufacturing" being blamed for the problem. 'MDNA World Tour still debuted at Number One on the Billboard chart last week, however, selling 11,000 combined DVD and Blu-Ray copies in its first week.
