Madonna has been criticised after posting a picture of her 13 year-old son holding a bottle of gin.

The image, which you can see above, shows Rocco Ritchie and friends posing with bottles of spirits. It was posted by the pop star on her official Instagram page with the caption, "The party has just begun! Bring it! 2014"

Despite not showing any of the three boys drinking the alcohol, Madonna was criticised by fans commenting that the image was irresponsible. Responding to the comments, she replied by posting another picture with the caption: "No one was drinking we were just having fun! Calm down and get a sense of humor! Don't start the year off with judgement!"

Madonna shared the pictures from her holiday at a ski resort in Gstaat, Switzerland, where she is staying with friends plus her four children Lourdes, David, Mercy and Rocco. Rocco Ritchie is Madonna's only child from her relationship with British film director Guy Ritchie. The couple split in 2008.

In 2013 Madonna named as the world's highest-paid musician by Forbes. The singer, who was also named as the highest-earning celebrity of 2013 by the same publication, topped the list after making $125 million (£77 million).
