Madonna was due to take part in jury duty today (May 28) at the Manhattan Supreme Court in New York, but was excused after providing a doctor's note.

New York Daily News reports that the singer would be able to take part in jury service in the coming days, adding that New York County Clerk Norman Goodman said his office was currently sorting out Madonna's next date to appear as a jury member.

Meanwhile, earlier this week Madonna posted an Instagram image of what may be the sleeve of her new single. The sleeve has the title 'Unapologetic Bitch' – the rumoured title of Madonna's new single. However, despite being posted on the singer's official Instagram site, the sleeve appears likely to have been mocked up by a fan, as the photo is taken from a recent Madonna magazine photo shoot.

A 50-second clip of the song, which was posted on YouTube without saying who the track was by, can be heard below. According to various internet sources, the song features Katy Perry, though neither she or Madonna have confirmed her involvement on any new music together. The pair were interviewed and photographed together for V magazine earlier in May.

Madonna announced in February that she was working on the follow-up to 2012's 'MDNA' album. Confirmed collaborators include Avicii, Diplo, Toby Gad, Haim producer Ariel Reichstad, Miley Cyrus songwriter MoZella and singer-songwriter Natalia Kills, a former Casualty actress. Additional rumoured guests include Giorgio Moroder and Macklemore.

Speaking of her work with Avicii, Madonna said: "So many great songs! I can't wait."
