THE MAKE UP, WASHINGTON DC's natural successors to MC5's righteous rock crown, have split after five years together, NME.COM can reveal.

The Make Up were formed in 1995 from the ashes of polemical punk anarchists Nation Of Ulysses. Under Svenonius guidance they released five albums, most recently 'Save Yourself' in 1999. and built a small but devotional following, particularly in the UK for what became described as their 'Gospel Yeh-Yeh' righteous sound and ideology.
