NO BREAK UP FOR MAKE-UP
NME.COM's investigation reveals that the righteous rockers are still very much together...
Following weeks of uncertainty, NME.COM can now reveal that THE MAKE-UP have not split up.
Rumours that the influential underground Washington DC four-piece had gone their separate ways began to grow with that news drummer Steve
Gamboa had left. The rumours seemed to be confirmed when it emerged that two of the core members vocalist Ian Svenonius and bassist Michelle Mae had put together a new band, Weird War, with Kathi Wilcox of Bikini Kill. However, it is now apparent that Weird War is simply a side project.
Mae contacted NME.COM to say: "We kicked out our drummer and that is it. We've played shows and toured Spain since then."
A spokesperson for the band confirmed that The Make- Up remain together but was unable to name a permanent replacement for Gamboa.
