Manic Street Preachers make emotional return to the Astoria

The band come back to venue after 13 years
Manic Street Preachers made an emotional return to London Astoria last night (May 30), 13 years after their last appearance.
The band's last show at the central London venue in 1994 was guitarist Richey Edwards' last ever gig with the band, and at the end they destroyed their equipment.
Nicky Wire dedicated 'Faster' to "the genius of Mr Richard Edwards", while at the climactic 'A Design For Life', James Dean Bradfield moved his mic stand to Richey's spot at the side of the stage.
Otherwise, the return was a triumph, with the promised 'Springsteen-esque long set' delivering everything from debut single 'Motown Junk' to six tracks from comeback album 'Send Away The Tigers'.
And after cathartic 'Holy Bible' track 'Die In The Summertime', Wire joked, "Can you remember us doing that in '94? I can't remember us being able to play it that good then."
