Manic Street Preachers reveal why Tim Roth is on the cover of 'Postcards From A Young Man'

Band tell NME Radio why they chose 'Reservoir Dogs' actor

Manic Street Preachers have revealed why they picked Reservoir Dogs actor Tim Roth to feature on the artwork to their new album 'Postcards From A Young Man'.

Speaking to NME Radio's Chris Blumer, singer James Dean Bradfield explained that he almost went into acting because he was such a big fan of the Hollywood actor, who appears on the cover half naked, holding a Polaroid camera.

"I've never met him, but he was kind of my hero when I was 15 and I wanted to be an actor [after seeing him onscreen]," he said.

Bassist Nicky Wire also argued that the band's 10th studio album is quite nostalgic and Roth's appearence on the cover tied in with their youth.

"The fact he's got a huge Polaroid camera is what gets me because I'm a huge Polaroid fan," he said. "The album is quite nostalgic and touchstones of our youth are kind of burnt into our memories and reflected in this album.

"I'd be really flattered if I was him because he looks amazing on the cover."

Meanwhile, the Manics are also set to feature in a Channel 4 documentary on their album tomorrow morning (September 23) at 12.25am, entitled One Last Shot At Mass Communication.
