Manic Street Preachers' Nicky Wire: 'I'd like to be in a reformed version of The Libertines' Manic Street Preachers Tickets

But the bassist insists that the Welsh rockers aren't splitting up just yet

Manic Street Preachers' Nicky Wire has revealed that he'd like to join a reformed incarnation of The Libertines.

In an interview XFM, the bassist suggested that he'd like to help out Pete Doherty and Carl Barat by being "a peacemaker" and also expressed his desire to brings Guns N' Roses back together.

Speaking ahead of the release of their new compilation 'National Treasures', he said:

[I'd like to be in] a reformed Libertines, just to hang around them and be a voyeur and a peacemaker. Maybe try to reform Guns N' Roses. Duff played on our album so maybe I could return the favour.



However, Wire insisted that the band had no intention of splitting up in the near future and had not decided to release the compilation to mark the final chapter in their career. "It's definitely not the end of the band," he added. "We're still in love with each other and the notion of one final re-invention. We're trying to think of a final third way."

In August, Wire had claimed that the release of 'National Treasures' signalled "the end of an era" for the band and that they were planning to "disappear for quite a long time".

Yesterday, meanwhile, Manic Street Preachers singer James Dean Bradfield revealed that the band temporarily broke up after founding member Richey Edwards disappeared in 1995.

The band release 'National Treasures', a new compilation which features all 38 of their singles, on October 31. They'll also play their singles in order at a one-off gig at London's O2 Arena on December 17.
