Mariah Carey in porn battle

The singer threatens adult actress namesake with legal action

Mariah Carey has threatened to take legal action against porn star Mary Carey to prevent her from trademarking her name.

Singer Carey believes fans could get confused between the two if Mary Carey’s trademark application is successful.

Mary Carey said: “I’m ready to battle Mariah over this, because I’ve been Mary Carey for a long time.

“It’s kind of funny because I’m a porn star and I’ve been being myself for a long time. I think she’s being silly.”

Mary Carey’s lawyer David Beitchman said he thought that the singer stood little chance of winning a case.

He told Reuters: “My first thought was, 'Does Mariah Carey realised what her lawyer is comparing her to and are they seriously concerned?' Do they seriously think the fans are going to be confused?”
