Marilyn Manson is in fighting spirit at Download

The singer plays tracks from his new album

Marilyn Manson played a riotous set at the Download Festival this evening (June 9).

The singer came onto classical music and his stage was decorated with rows of huge candles and splatters of fake blood.

He played a selection of tracks from his sixth album ’Eat Me Drink Me’ including current single ’Heart Shaped Glasses’ and ’Just A Car Crash Away’.

However, the biggest cheers of the set came during his covers of Eurythmics' ’Sweet Dreams’ and of classic pop song ’Tainted Love’.

During ’The Dope Show’ Manson crawled across the stage and leapt on his guitarist.

Introducing ’The Fight Song’, Manson said: “This song is about when people don’t let you be who you want to be. If someone tells you, you can’t be what you want to be fight. Fight! Fight! Fight!”

Closing with ’The Beautiful People’ the set culminated in an explosion of ticker tape and dry ice.

He played:

'If I Was Your Vampire'
'Disposable Teens'
'You And Me And The Devil Makes 3'
'Hate Anthem'
'mOBscene'
'Sweet Dreams'
'Putting Holes In Happiness'
'Just A Car Crash Away'
'Rock Is Dead'
'Heart Shaped Glasses'
'Tainted Love'
'The Dope Show'
'Great Big White World'
'The Fight Song'
'The Beautiful People'
