Mark Morrison says he is 'Leicester's version of The Beatles'

Mark Morrison has attacked his home city of Leicester for showing him "nothing but contempt".

Morrison told The Leicester Mercury he would never return to the city.

"I showed Leicester the love and that city never showed me the love back. That place has shown me nothing but contempt," he declared. "Believe it, baby, I ain't never, ever, ever going back to Leicester."

The singer also said he believed he was Leicester's version of The Beatles, reports My Chemical Toilet.

"I will always be the all-time musical great of your city. I'm The Beatles of that city," he said.

Speaking of fellow Leicester-based celebrities, Morrison complained: "I don't see a Gary Lineker soccer school in Leicester. I don't see an Engelbert Humperdinck or a Showaddywaddy singing school in Leicester. I came back, I put on talent shows in Leicester."

The city of Leicester has yet to comment.
