Mark Wahlberg to star in video game adaptation ‘Uncharted’

Actor will play Nathan Drake; David O Russell will direct

Mark Wahlberg is set to play Nathan Drake in an adaptation of video game Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune.

The Boston-born star of Boogie Nights and The Departed is again teaming up with The Fighter director David O Russell for the film.

He told MTV.com: “David is one of the best writer/directors I’ve ever worked with. The ideas that he has are just insane. So hopefully we’ll be making that movie this summer.”

Wahlberg also stated that both Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci are currently in negotiations to appear in the film.

He added: “I’m obviously in whatever David wants to do but the idea of it is so off the charts: De Niro being my father, Pesci being my uncle. It’s not going to be the watered-down version, that’s for sure.”

Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune is the story of Drake, who is searching for the lost treasure of El Dorado with the help of his friend Victor and a journalist.
