Martin Scorsese’s ‘Taxi Driver’ to get 35th anniversary re-release

Robert De Niro-starring classic has been digitally restored

Taxi Driver is returning to UK cinemas for its 35th anniversary.

Martin Scorsese‘s 1976 classic saw Robert De Niro star as Travis Bickle, a former Marine driven to violence by loneliness and desperation in a bid to protect a young child prostitute played by Jodie Foster.

Now, the film will hit UK screens again on May 13 following an extensive, full 4K digital restoration, under the supervision of Grover Crisp of Sony Pictures.

Co-starring Harvey Keitel and Cybill Shepherd, Taxi Driver was nominated for four Academy Awards, including Best Picture.

It also won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes International Film Festival. The American Film Institute ranked it the 52nd best American film ever made.
